Bryce Jones Talks Being A 'Homebred Legend'
What does the name "Homebred Legends" mean to you?
- It means where you came from made you. Everything about you shows where you're from. The way you act, the way you carry yourself on a daily basis; it shows who you are...Homebred to me is the Heights, no matter how far I go...the Heights is what made me who I am. It's the reason that I'm able to do what I do now at a high level and love what I do each and every day.
What does it mean to you to represent the city of Cleveland Heights in your career?
- It's an opportunity for the next person. It's an opportunity for someone at Heights or going to come in the next couple of years, that someone made it out of here. Despite the obstacles, despite the things you might go through, someone made it out, so why can't I?
Who are some people that you think of when you think of Homebred Legends?
- Travis Kelce & LeBron James
What does it mean to you to have the title of a Homebred Legend?
- It means everything. It means i did something. It means i put my name on something...I'm the third one to come through here [Clelveand Heights High School] and graduate; that meant a lot off the jump. But to put your name and put yourself in your own category is something that people dream about doing.
What's the most important thing you've learned on this journey [to the NFL]?
- Never think of yourself. Someone is always watching...someone's seeing everything that I do and it makes me work harder. I know that I have the opportunity to inspire and change the life of somebody else by the way that I work, by the way that i play, by the way that I carry myself. Never take any of this for granted.
If you could tell the future generation something to inspire them, what would you say?
- Be yourself. Love where you're from. Be you. Don't worry about trying to keep up with the crowd or be someone that your not. Be yourself, love yourself - that's going to get you further than anything else in life.
